Mulshi

Mulshi is the lake an hour west of Pune, past Paud, where the road stops being a highway and starts being a drive. In the monsoon the whole valley goes green and the dam fills; in winter the mornings come up cold over the water.

What we run here is different from our city houses. The villa is let whole — four bedrooms, an infinity pool and the hills behind it — so a family, a group of friends or a company offsite gets the entire place rather than a room in it.

It suits a weekend more than a working week. People come out on a Friday, cook, swim, and drive back on Sunday.
